What To Expect
Depending on the type of massage and reason for seeking massage, your session will typically include:
Completing a health history intake, signing a consent for massage, an assessment, hands-on massage, and if indicated, stretching and self-care instructions, and a plan of care for future massage appointments.
Clients disrobe in private and get under a cover onto the massage table while the therapist is outside of the room. Only the area being massaged will be uncovered. How far you disrobe will depend upon your comfort level, the type of session and body region to be massaged. Clients who are uncomfortable removing any clothing, should bring a t-shirt and shorts. Massage can be adapted to be done through clothing and covers. Please let us know your comfort level. Sports Massage, Corrective Exercise and Clinical sessions will require clients to bring t-shirt and shorts.
Seated Massage sessions are available by special request. Clients will remain fully clothed. A special chair that keeps the client in a forward-leaning, upright, seated position gives the massage practitioner access to the clients neck, shoulders and back. Seated massage is an appropriate alternative for clients who have difficulties lying down, are uncomfortable with undressing, have never had any kind of massage before or are short on time.
